Import Documents & Safety When Evacuating

Remember in times of emergency, having quick access to important documents can make all the difference. With the VetCV Vault, you can securely upload, store, and organize all of your critical documents—like IDs, medical records, insurance policies, and more—so they’re always within reach when you need them most.

Using the Vault is simple and takes just minutes to upload your files. By keeping your documents safely stored in the VetCV cloud, you ensure they’re protected from loss, damage, or theft, giving you peace of mind during uncertain times. Stay prepared, stay safe, and easily access your vital information from anywhere with the VetCV Vault.

School Closures

The General Education Online's Education Disaster Information System (EDIS) Pilot helps parents and students stay informed about school closures during emergencies or disasters by providing critical updates at key moments. In partnership with VetCV, the pilot focuses on delivering accurate and timely updates to ensure families are aware of school operations during disruptions. This collaboration helps bridge the communication gap during uncertain times, offering families a dependable source of information to plan and prepare in emergencies.,

Find Me Beacon Alert Center - Evacuee List

In times of uncertainty, staying connected with loved ones is crucial. The VetCV Find Me Beacon Alert Evacuee Center enables anyone to search for someone that posted their evacuation status.

This platform provides a fast, reliable way to confirm their safety and locate them during an emergency. We recommend telling your friends and family about this service before a storm or disaster strikes. That way, everyone will know exactly where to look for updates, ensuring faster, easier communication during stressful times. Stay safe, stay connected.

The Find Me Beacon Alert Evacuee Center allows you to quickly post your status, letting friends and family know you're safe after an evacuation. By listing your name and safety status, you enable others to search for you and gain peace of mind knowing you've evacuated safely.

The VetCV Foundation Disaster Relief Fund is dedicated to providing swift, life-changing support to veterans, their families, and communities impacted by the storm. As we face the aftermath together, our mission is to ensure that those affected receive the immediate assistance they need. Your donations directly help those in need rebuild their lives and regain their strength. Together, we can make a difference.

Compensation and Claims

  1. If you’re unable to receive a benefit payment after a disaster, contact the VA National Call Center at 1-800-827-1000 to request a special one-time payment.

Note: If natural disasters disrupt the timeliness of receiving your claims paperwork or gathering information from you, you won’t be penalized for subsequent mail delays. You can also submit claims and upload other relevant information through your VA.gov account.

Employment

  1. If you’re a displaced Veteran and receive VA employment services, you may qualify for two additional months of Employee Adjustment Allowance. Contact your local VA regional office to speak with a Veteran Readiness & Employment specialist to learn more.

  2. Students using Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 GI Bill) or Chapter 35 (Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Program): If the enrollment was submitted prior to the recent disaster, no further action is necessary to continue to receive benefits.
  3. Students Using Chapter 30 or 1606 (Montgomery GI Bill) and students using Chapter 33 who are attending Non-College Degree programs and receive monthly housing allowance or kickers should continue to verify their attendance as if the school did not close to ensure benefits are not affected.

Note: If your school remains open, but you’re unable to attend (i.e., if you had to relocate because of the natural disaster), VA is unable to continue GI Bill benefit payments. When you’re no longer pursuing classes, your school must report the termination to VA as soon as possible.
